On one of my first days back to work after my holiday in Australia, I was driving to work on the motorway and I spotted this nice big orange/red sun rising on the horizon. As I was really stuck in traffic more than I was driving, I had plenty of time to figure out how to get to a suitable location for the day after (suitable as not on the motorway).

That day I would bring my camera and eventually take this photograph. It was a cold day, with frost on the grass and tree branches giving this shot its winter look.

For the dutchies: it's the polderweg next to the A27 motorway Breda - Utrecht and just before the A2 heading towards Amsterdam.

  • Wonderfull, stunning, awesome, superb ... wordless. I really admire your courage to get up this early in the morning, but it pays of. A masterpiece ... congrats!

  • i've noticed that one can quess by the sunrise's colors if there cold or warm outside. when there's cold the colors a little bit more desaturated. i like them so.
the composition is beautiful as a whole also. well done

  • Great mood. Well preserved detail in the grass. The hazy line of trees adds a cold touch.
Would you consider cropping clodser to the tree to get the sun off-center?
